CLASSES OFFERED

Preschool Dance (Ages 3 - 5)

No previous training.  Emphasis is on creative movement.  

20 mins of each: ballet and tap.

 

5-8 Yrs Old Ballet/Tap

Basic ballet and tap technique using a creative style of teaching to encourage dancers to stretch and strengthen their bodies. This develops their power of concentration, teaches them to take direction and cooperate with a group.

 

5-9 Yrs Old Jazz / Poms

Basic limbering and body building exercises to create a stronger dancer with concentration on technique and style.  Basic jazz is learned along with turns, leaps, and jazz combinations.

 

5-9 Yrs Old Hip Hop

This class includes a basic technique warm-up, basic hip hop moves, steps that travel across the floor, and combinations.

 

10-12 Yrs Old Jazz

Basic limbering and body building exercises to create a stronger dancer with concentration on technique and style.  Basic jazz is learned along with turns, leaps, and jazz combinations.

 

10 and Up Hop Hop

Come learn the hottest new dance moves from your favorite hip hop/r&b/pop music film clips and original choreography. Hip Hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin’, locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. The class includes a basic technique warm-up, basic hip hop moves, steps that travel across the floor, and combinations.

 

13 and Up Jazz

Basic limbering and body building exercises to create a stronger dancer with concentration on technique and style.  Basic jazz is learned along with turns, leaps, and jazz combinations.

 

Ballet 1

Basic ballet technique with little or no prior training.

 

Ballet 2

Intermediate ballet technique with 3-4 years of prior training.  

 

Ballet 3

Advanced ballet technique with 4-5 years of prior training.  Emphasis on performance.  Teacher recommendation.

 

Pointe

Advanced ballet on Pointe.  Must meet age requirements and be recommended for placement.

Strength & Flexibility 2

This class focuses on strength, balance, and flexibility to execute the movements with power and grace.   Conditioning for dance improves your technique and performance in all dance forms by strengthening the body’s core (abdominal and back muscles) while improving coordination, balance, and alignment and optimizing flexibility. The result is more lift without tension, deeper pliés, higher jumps with less effort, tighter turns, and improved extension and turnout.

 

Strength & Flexibility 3 (Advanced)

This class focuses on strength, balance, and flexibility to execute the movements with power and grace.   Conditioning for dance improves your technique and performance in all dance forms by strengthening the body’s core (abdominal and back muscles) while improving coordination, balance, and alignment and optimizing flexibility. The result is more lift without tension, deeper pliés, higher jumps with less effort, tighter turns, and improved extension and turnout.  This class uses resistant bands.  

 

Tumbling 1 

Exercises given to create limberness, balance, strength, and coordination as needed to achieve all tumbling moves.  This level teaches forward rolls, cartwheels, round offs, handstands, bridge kick overs and front walk overs.

 

Tumbling 2

This level will will begin with bridge kick overs, back bend kick overs without spot, start back handsprings, and start linking together round off back handsprings.

 

Tumbling 3

This level will begin with back hand spring unassisted or aerial and will continue to build on other advanced tumbling skills.  

 

Jazz 2 / IMPROVisation 2

Jazz is a style of dance that finds its roots in ballet, but was enhanced by musical trends, social dances, and the popularization of dance through movies and musicals.  It can be percussive with intricate rhythm patterns or fluid with emotional intensity. These classes place an emphasis on isolating body parts, increased flexibility, and exhibition of individual personality. 

 

JAZZ 3/IMPROVisation 3 (Advanced)

Jazz is a style of dance that finds its roots in ballet, but was enhanced by musical trends, social dances, and the popularization of dance through movies and musicals.  It can be percussive with intricate rhythm patterns or fluid with emotional intensity. These classes place an emphasis on isolating body parts, increased flexibility, and exhibition of individual personality. 

 

Lyrical 

This class and style incorporates ballet, modern and jazz and is interpretive of the music and lyrics. 

 

Tricks & Turns

Technique class concentrating on improving and achieving skills that increase flexibility and contortion.

 

Leaps & Turns 3 (Advanced)

Leaps and Turns is a specialty class designed to teach proper technique for turns (chaines, pirouettes, piques, axels, etc.)

 

Tap 1 / Tap 2/ Tap 3

This class focuses on rhythmic exercise and dance form which is enjoyable to both kids and adults. Rooted in African-American History, tap offers a variety of styles and techniques. Students will realize results in dance movement after a minimum of classes. The classes stress the basics of tap and build into combinations which are great to watch and delightful to hear.
